HISTORY
At the age of twenty Daniel achieved his life dream of becoming a journalist in the field of collecting interesting people's life stories. He was in San Francisco when he met up with a strange man called Louis de Pointe du Lac and he claimed to be a vampire. And Louis told his story of his life with Lestat and Claudia and his heartbreak when Claudia died. So basically he told him everything.
In a vain hope to meet Lestat he traveled out to New Orleans, he didn't meet Lestat but he did meet Armand and Armand plagued him for years. During this time Daniel released "Interview With The Vampire" under a different name which made him quite rich. He later became companion to Armand.
But two days before Lestat's ill-fated concert he became seriously ill and near death. Armand couldn't stand to lose him and give him the dark gift with his blessing.
Daniel wondered around after leaving Armand after the Akasha incident and came into the care of Marius where he still remains.
CIRCUMSTANCES OF DEATH
Most logical reason for death is Liver damage due to excessive drinking.
