HISTORY
Maharet is from a long line of witches who lived at the foot of the Mount Carmel. Her family where famous seers of spirits, they had the power to make wind and rain. And near Maharets and Mekare's 25th birthday an evil spirit who was called Amel started to bother them. And after their mother died and her body was prepared to eat the flesh which was custom of there culture, the army of Enkil and Akasha arrived and kill everyone in the village except for Maharet and Mekare they where taken prisoner and they destination was to be delivered to Enkil and Akasha for questioning. Eventually sentenced to an act of violence that was to be carried out my Khayman. Both Maharet and Mekare where set free and they both return home where Maharet discovers that she is with child and gives birth nine months later to Khayman's child. Maharet calls the child Miriam.
Unfortunately the Royal troops return and take both Maharet and Mekare prisoner again. But when they come in front of both Enkil and Akasha there is a noticeable change in both of them. Had their been infected with an evil spirit. Maharet and Mekare say there isn't anything they can do to help them. Furious by this their are sentence to death, but first they cut out Maharet's eyes and they take Mekare's tung and destroy them. Khayman unable to take the guilt of this turns both of them into a vampires. And as the three of them try and escape both Maharet and Mekare are captured. The King and Queen realize what has happened to them decides to put them in separate boxes and sent them in different directions in the sea.
Maharet having lost her sister does everything possible to find her but with not much luck. To keep her sane she kept an eye on her family tree and supported them when needed. During the year 1949 a descendent of Maharet's daughter dies in a car crash and leaves behind a baby girl called Jesse Reeves. She comes under her care and is soon adopted by a loving family. Maharet kept a close eye on her and give advice when she needed it until Jesse had her mortal death and Maharet brought her over with the dark gift.
Akasha returns and goes to where all blood drinkers are but unfortunately the other side has an old enemy of Akasha's and she fulfils her promise and kills Akasha. Both Maharet and Mekare become leaders of all remaining vampires.
Maharet locks Lestat up as she feels he is a danger to himself and to others in his mental state. She releases him and leaves.
As punishment for killing Santino she takes Thorne's eyes and inserts them in her own head giving her sight again.
Maharet grants Lestats request and sends him an email care of the Talamasca and tells him the location of the Taltos. Maharet begins to correspond with Mona Mayfair via email. She also suggests that Lestat learn how to email people. Maharet offers a visit to her home for Mona and Quinn, she sends Khayman to ask them.

Reluctantly agrees to become a vampire.
