de Romanus - isn't actually his last name but he uses it instead of his real last name.
HISTORY
Born the illegitimate son of a noble Roman he grew up to become a scholar and a chronicler who traveled extensively through his life. At the age of forty he was kidnapped by a Druid priest called Mael and taken to the God of the Grove and made into a vampire. Soon after the transformation he fled the Druids and headed for Egypt where he would come across Akasha and Enkil (Those Who Must Be Kept) he became there keeper and he took them out of Egypt and to Antioch.
When in Antioch he came upon Pandora the young woman who he met when she was but a child. After she was attacked by the vampire Akbar, Marius had no choice but to make her into a vampire. They stayed with each other for two centuries but the continuous arguments made them grow apart and he then left with Akasha and Enkil.
He later moved around a lot and had a few companions on the way Avicus and Mael. He fought with the vampire Eudoxia over the procession of Akasha and Enkil. But eventually came to Venice in the 15th century. He became a painter and he never disclosed his secret of Those Who Must Be Kept, not even to Amadeo. Eventually he was hunted down by the Children of Darkness: The Roman Coven and set ablaze his hone and his fledgling Amandeo and his human servants where all taken prisoner. Saved by Bianca he drew small piece of his strength back by turning her into a vampire and eventually returning to Those Who Must Be Kept and Akasha helped him back to health with her blood.
After Bianca left him due to the reason she had over heard Marius conversation with Pandora he traveled to Dresden where he briefly stayed until moving to a Greek island where he became a recluse. Until he started to receive strange messages from a vampire calling himself Lestat, he brought Lestat to his island and told him his story about Those Who Must Be Kept. But after endangering Lestat immortal life to the wrath of Enkil he took both Akasha and Enkil out of this little Greek island to a Northern Island and where he and Those Must Be Kept dwelled there until 1984 (2002: in the movie) when Lestat's music awoke Akasha.
After Akasha awoke she wounded Marius and left him there to be saved by Pandora and Santino. After the defeat of Akasha he had no longer a responsibilities and could go where he pleased when he pleased.
He came to a vampire called Thorne and told him his life story.
