THE FILE ON THE MAYFAIR WITCHES
PART ONE: 1630 - 1831
1630
Suzanne Mayfair was born around 1630's and lived in the village of Donnelaith, interesting note that Donnelaith name was given to the land by the Taltos the species that give birth to Lasher but we'll get to that later.
1653
Suzanne was a midwife and was well known for her healing ability's. Suzanne give birth to Deborah Mayfair in 1653 the father is unknown to the Talamasca. During the period of giving birth and raising Deborah a witch judge came upon Donnelaith and Suzanne healed a cut on the witch judge's (we have withdrawn his name for respect of his living family) hand and he stayed the night. He showed Suzanne a book called Demonolgie, Suzanne couldn't read so the witch judge read it to her and read it until she could repeat it. This witch judge taught her the things that witches had done and could do whilst always warning her of the dangers that lay in front of a witch for he said "lest the devil tempt you, for the devil loves the midwife and the cunning woman." The witch judge soon left after giving her this advice.
1660
Suzanne with Deborah at her side called up the Talto's spirit Lasher to do her bidding. Lashers give Suzanne plenty of money and advised her on people's treachery and sought to punish anyone who wronged Suzanne or any other Mayfair. Suzanne had a dispute between herself and a milkmaid. Suzanne cursed the milkmaid and unable to control Lasher took it upon himself to kill the milkmaid with a huge hailstorm using Suzanne's magic. This resulted in her being burned at the stake in 1665 with a Talamasca operative called Petyr van Abel present. Petyr took it upon himself to take Deborah with him to Amsterdam and saving her from the same fate that befell her mother.
1665 - 1667
During Deborah's time in Amsterdam she marries man called Roelant in 1665 during this year she also gets her portrait painted by a famous painter called Rembrant which still hangs the Talamasca's Amsterdam Motherhouse. With the help from her familiar she purchases an emerald which is later referred to the Mayfair Emerald which has a letter "L" in white which it is stated that it means Lasher. This emerald is past down the generations to each female witch who inherits everything even the Taltos spirit Lasher. In her final days in Amsterdam Deborah seduces the operative (Petyr van Abel) that brought her to Amsterdam she begs him to leave the Talamasca had to start a new life with her. He refuses and she leaves for France carrying Petyr's child. She marries Comte de Montcleve. And nine months later she gives birth to Charlotte Mayfair. Deborah gives two further children to Comte de Montcleve calling them Phillippe and Chretien de Montcleve.
1669
A tragic accident befalls Comte he apparently falls from his horse while riding in the Forest and poor Deborah could not or would not heal his injuries supposedly they where to deep. And he dies. Comte mother accuses Deborah of cursing him and killing him after finding a poorly designed doll carved from wood, bone, and hair. She told the people that Deborah was going to steal her husbands’ jewels, gold, and silk even though people knew these items belonged to Deborah and not the Comte. Deborah tells and begs Charlotte Mayfair to leave France. She grants her request and leaves France never to return. Deborah gained the names "Bride of Satan" and "Witch of Montcleve" because she had kept her beauty even after she had been tortured, her hair shaven, and very thin from starvation. Even after all the torture Deborah never confessed to anything the only words she ever said was "Roelant, Roeland" and "Petyr" the villagers not knowing who these people where presumed that they were names for the devil. Petyr van Abel showed up and talked to Deborah she asked him to deliver a message to Charlotte in New Orleans. He granted her request but wanted to help her much more which he could not. But she warned him on her day of execution not to be outside!
1689
In her final moments as she was being escorted the stake to be burned alive she summoned Lasher, "Come now, my Lasher, be my avenger, strike down my enemies!" "I see you, Lasher, I know you! I call you" "Destroy my sons, destroy my accusers! Destroy those who have come to see me die!" Lasher proceeded to destroy the village and kill nearly all of then villagers but Deborah was pushed from the church window by Louvier and then burnt. Petyr killed Louvier for killing Deborah.
In the same year, by her mothers request Charlotte with her husband (Antoine Fontenay) and son flees to Saint-Domingue and establishes the Mayfair plantation with the money from Antoine's family. Charlotte ran the plantation since her husband was incapable of doing such a chore. She had the respect of everyone from the townsfolk all the way to the slaves. She was often thought of as a witch because of her healing abilities. This is when the Mayfair family started to get quite rich. On the request of Deborah Mayfair, Petyr van Abel sets out to New Orleans against the wishes of the Talamasca. Firstly I should point out that it is believed that Charlotte Mayfair was actually the daughter of Petyr and not the daughter of Comte. When Petyr arrives in New Orleans he passes on Deborah's message and his fears about the witches-familiar Lasher. Charlotte states that what happened to her mother and grandmother will not happen to her and that she completely controls him to do her bidding and to make her rich. What happens hear is a little unclear other then after joining the Mayfair clan for evening meal Petyr points out in his report that the spirit Lasher had in fact possessed Antoine's father had was using him for a short while Petyr also noted that you could tell it was not Antoine's father has he looked like some kind of wooden doll, Petyr was amazed and deeply horrified by this. After the dinner Charlotte talked to Petyr van Abel awhile longer at it isn't quite clear if Charlotte had spiked his drink or used some kind of magic on him and she seduces Petyr and couples with him. For days she kept him prisoner with the single objective of falling pregnant with a strong female heir. This eventually happened and Charlotte falls pregnant. Charlotte eventually lets Petyr leave and he returns to his hotel where he is now plagued with the evil Taltos spirit Lasher. Petyr makes a few correspondents to the Talamasca and he states that he will not survive this encounter with Lasher. Unfortunately for Petyr he is right and is found dead not to long after his last communication with the Talamasca he was believed to be heading the Mayfair plantation to tell Charlotte about Lasher, he was 43 when he died in 1689.
1690
Nine months after Petyr van Abel's death Jeanne Louise and Peter Mayfair are born by Charlotte and Petyr van Abel. Not much is known about Jeanne Louise other then she married a dissolute drunk and that she kept the name "Mayfair" for all official documents. And that to the dissolute drunk she has four sons. Not long after her marriage to the dissolute drunk she has connecting bedroom and parlor extensions for Peter who was her lifetime partner. It is also believed that Angelique (who was born in 1725) Jeanne Louise's daughter and heir to the Mayfair legacy was actually fathered by Peter, her brother.
1725
As mentioned above Angelique Mayfair was born in 1725 to Jeanne Louise and the possibility that Peter Mayfair may have been her father.
Although Lasher isn't mention as much after Petyr van Abel's death in this history of the Mayfair's he is still haunting and being the devoted spirit he is to the legacy of the Mayfair's, and is still around.
1743
Charlotte Mayfair died at the age of 76. By the time of Charlotte's death she had five children (three of these children where fathered by Antoine) and seventeen grandchildren. The plantation was passed to Charlotte's first born son only by name though as the real owners was Jeanne Louise and Peter Mayfair as Antoine Fontenay III deferred the estate to Charlotte's intended heir.
1755
By the time Angelique was 30 she had married the handsome and rich Vincent St Christophe. Just as Jeanne Louise, Angelique had retained the name Mayfair. On a small side note it is interesting to note that during a Mayfair wedding it is vital for all Mayfair’s to keep the Mayfair name and the husband never to take the name Mayfair. And for it's heir's it's essential to have Lasher's emerald on the day the heir gets married. She was always seen with her grandmother Charlotte until Charlotte's death, people commented that Angelique was very caring and totally devoted to Charlotte. Five years on from marrying Vincent Angelique gives birth to the next heir Marie Claudette Mayfair (1760). Before Marie's birth Angelique had two other girls who died very young and three sons, two of these sons immigrated back to France while her other son Lestan followed Marie to Louisiana when she moved. After Angelique Mayfair's husband Vincent St Christophe's death she had taken many lovers but she refused to ever marry again.
1760
Marie Claudette is born, and there is evidence that show that as each descendent of Suzanne is born each on of them became more powerful as a witch.
1771
Jeanne Louise and Peter Mayfair die within hours of each other. By the time of Jeanne Louise death she had five children, four of these children was fathered by her husband and the daughter (Angelique) was supposedly fathered by Peter.
1776
Although the year is not confirmed, the Talamasca believed that Marie Claudette married Henri Marie Landry at the age of sixteen.
1778
Firstly this is another unconfirmed date at the age of eighteen she gives birth to Marie Claire and a year later Pierre Mayfair where born to Marie Claudette and Henri Marie.
1789
One of Angelique's brothers and her sister immigrated to France to be closer to Angelique's two sons. While her other brother Maurice had decided to stay with Angelique and his two sons, Louis-Pierre and Martin.
Although Marie Claire was the first born daughter the legacy didn't fall to her but to her other sister Marguerite who was born in 1799, but we'll get to that later.
The French Revolution kills off the French branch of the Mayfair family. The Talamasca lost track of the French branch of the Mayfair family and could never truly pinpoint their actual location in France, it is to be noted that the decedents who moved to France never used the name Mayfair! Marie Claudette establishes the Mayfair legacy which still stands today before fleeing Saint-Domingue after receiving a warning from the slaves that her family could be massacred by a slave uprising which was later called "Haitian Revolution." Marie Claudette, her two children, her husband, her brother and his family, and fifty slaves took their leave of Saint-Domingue and left for Louisiana. To preserve the Mayfair fortune Marie Claudette withdrew large amount of cash from Holland and Rome and deposits the large amounts of money into London and New York banks respectively.
Due to the move to Louisiana the Mayfair clan came into more contact with people then ever before and the people of Louisiana were quite suspicious of Marie Claudette, Talamasca field agent had talked to a lot of residents from Louisiana that stated that she (Marie Claudette) was very formidable and unpleasant. While some of her slaves came forward and said that she was a sorceress and that she had a demon that she controlled to do her bidding and that she send the demon after people who had wronged her. Eventually Marie Claudette moved the family to New Orleans and moved into a large house in the Rue Dumaine and immediately acquired an enormous plantation at Riverbend, which is located south of the city. The Mayfair's built a massive plantation bigger then the one in Saint-Domingue, Marie Claudette called this plantation "La Victoire at Riverbend" which people usually referred to it has simply "Riverbend". Unfortunately the house was carried away by the river, yet their still own the land and placed an oil refinery.
1799
Marguerite Mayfair is born.
Although Marguerite is Marie Claudette third and final child she is made heir to the Mayfair legacy as it was deemed that Claire Marie was feeble minded and therefore never allowed to marry due to her behavior it is also well worth noticing that Pierre was not allowed to marry either he was a Doctor to the slaves and in 1820 he took a mistress and had a son and a daughter.
As already mentioned in 1799 Marguerite Mayfair was born and everyone in the family adored her. During her tenth year of living she had her portrait painted with the Emerald necklace around her neck which was hung in First Street in 1927 which can still be seen today.
1819
Marguerite weds Tyrone McNamara against the wishes of Marie Claudette. By witnesses he was described has being very handsome opera singer who toured the U.S.
1827
She gives birth to her first child Remy and a year later she gives birth to Julian Mayfair.
1829
Although Tyrone was famous for his opera singing he was also well known for his womanizing, drinking, and getting into fights. And in 1829 she discovers that Tyrone is having an affair with an Irish woman, distressed by this she sends Lasher to kill them both. And while Tyrone and this Irish woman were running away with each other where found dead in the French quarter by a fire. Marguerite also was supposed to know more about Voodoo then any black person of the time in Louisiana.
Practically almost after the death of Tyrone, Marguerite marries again to man called Arlington Kerr, this is the first time a Mayfair married twice. And six months later he disappears never to be seen again. Some people believe that he made his way into Marguerite's jars that where full of dead people's parts.
1830
Katherine Mayfair is born to Marguerite Mayfair and Arlington Kerr.
Julian was two year half old when he started to talk to Marie Claudette about Lasher and about her past and her ancestors past. Marie Claudette told Julian that he should never trust the sorcerers (Talamasca) and gives Julian the secret that music can distract it. And that its true goal is to be made flesh! And when it achieves its goal that he will do away with the Mayfair Witches.
1831
Marie Claudette dies.
With the death of Marie Claudette, Lasher turns his attention to Julian the first and only male Mayfair he bother's with.
Marguerite continues her study of horrible and disgusting things such as human skulls, stuffed and mounted swamp animals, trophy heads from African safaris and animal skin rugs. Not forgetting the many bottles and jars with a lot of people claiming to have seen body parts in them. It was too long before Marguerite was study dead fetus and baby that she killed in the search for a human body for Lasher, she had Julian help her with this, evil deed.
