THE FILE ON THE MAYFAIR WITCHES
PART THREE: 1925 - 1990
1925
Mary Beth died of cancer at the age of fifty-eight. Also that year her farther dies. Stella goes wild and throws massive parties all the time this party’s turn out to be quite scandalous and eventually the parties were just for friends and family was forgotten and basically ignored.
1927
Stella decided to refurbish and spent a load of money on doing this. The money went on to new paint, plaster, draperies and expensive furniture. Stella had an elevator installed and a huge pool but at the rear of garden and also cabana so the guests could shower and get ready without going into the house.
The people the Talamasca interviewed people said that Stella's daughter Antha was a shy, thin and nervous girl and that she seemed to have a dreamy expression on her face.
Antha could make Lasher appear when ever she wanted him too and this got her expelled from several Catholic schools as the nuns were afraid of her and her invisible friend.
1929
A Talamasca operative called Stuart Townsend wanted to reiterate contact with the Mayfair's. So he got in touch with Stella Mayfair and shortly after that he was no longer seen again alive. His body was found in 1989 and it seemed that Carlotta had or paid someone to kill Stuart and leave him upstairs to rot. Arthur Langtry who was also a member of the Talamasca determined to find out what happened to Stuart left for New Orleans and made contact with Stella Mayfair and she told her to meet her at her house at the party. He did this and whilst looking for Stella came upon Stuart's ghost to leave this place immediately. When he finally found Stella, she asked him to take her away from this family, he agreed and when they where about to leave in a room full of people Lionel Mayfair fired two shots at Stella, Antha saw this and screamed. Stella died of the gunshot wounds and Lionel was locked up for the murder of Stella Mayfair. Carlotta later confessed that she made Lionel kill Stella.
Carlotta takes over raising Antha.
1938
At the age of seventeen Antha ran away to New York and supported herself by selling rare gold coins that Lasher had obtained her. She met a man called Sean Lacy who was an artist and she married him. She tries her hand at writing for awhile and sold her poem to The New Yorker and one to a Parisian magazine.
1940
Antha falls pregnant with Deirdre Mayfair. But unfortunately Sean Lacy dies in a car accident and this send Antha hysterical. Carlotta has Antha committed to St. Ann's Asylum and tries to get the doctors to abort the baby without consent from Antha. Luckily the doctors don't listen to Carlotta.
1941
Antha recovers and in 1941 Deirdre is born and Antha realizes that she is the heir to the Mayfair fortune and starts to write again. Carlotta through pure frustration blinds Antha so she can't see Lasher anymore and pushed her out of the third-floor window to her death and then Carlotta tells everyone she committed suicide. Carlotta becomes Deirdre's legal guardian.
Michael Curry, who later becomes entangled or involved for the lack of a better word with the Mayfair family, is born. It is interesting to point out that from a young age Michael could see Lasher. But I will go into that in more detail later. Michael is also the one who give us the poem for the file.
1943
The scholar Aaron Lighter joins the Talamasca. Aaron played a massive part in redesigning the Mayfair History for the Talamasca and is the only Talamasca member to get this involved with the family.
1944
Glifford Mayfair is born to Laura Lee.
1947
At the age of six Michael Curry sees Lasher for the first time at St. Alphonsus church on Christmas Eve. Supposedly he was just looking directly at Michael and smiling.
During Deirdre's early years Carlotta raised Deirdra to think that she was apart of a chain a chain of evil and that Lasher was actually the devil! So for along time Deirdre thought herself to be damned as Lasher brought her flowers and give her intimate pleasure. Not too different from her mother Deirdre was expelled from several Catholic schools.
Amanda Grady Mayfair devoted wife to Cortland Mayfair dies in the year 1951.
1953
Aaron Lighter is assigned to the Mayfair Witches file he would stay in charge of the file for 37 years until his death in 1990. Aaron is probably the most respected Talamascian member to ever grace the Talamasca and to be assigned to the Mayfair file which in this year he began reorganizes converting all original texts from Latin to modern day English. I suggest you read all of Aaron's work concerning the Mayfair family it is quite intriguing.
1954
Deirdre tries to run away from her Aunt Carlotta and then tries to commit suicide, but failed on both accounts. Deirdre is sent to stay with family in Los Angeles but her stay there does not last long has she talks too much about being cursed and her liaisons with Lasher.
1958
Aaron journeys to Texas to initiate contact with Deirdre Mayfair. She tells Aaron that she doesn't want anything to do with the spirit Lasher and that she wants to break the Mayfair Curse. She symbolizes this with throwing the Mayfair emerald away. During Aaron's time in Texas, Aaron reported spotting Lasher. Aaron is later contacted by Cortland Mayfair and he tells Aaron to leave his family alone. Cortland poisons Aaron and Aaron comes close to dying. The Talamasca later decides that no field operative or member will make direct contact with the Mayfair family in the near future. Cortland brings Deirdre who is now pregnant home from College. It is believed that one of Deirdre's Professors was the father who was killed in a car crash after telling his wife that he was leaving her to marry Deirdre. But more likely the father of the baby was actually Cortland, her uncle, who paid many visits to Deirdre in her time at college.
1959
Infuriated with and desperate to break the chain of evil Carlotta demands the baby is given up to family members in California. Deirdre angry and upset by this calls for Cortland to stop Carlotta from taking her child away. Cortland and Carlotta argue and Cortland falls down the stairs and dies. Deirdre gives birth to Rowan Mayfair and Carlotta gets her way and Rowan is adopted by Ellie Mayfair. And after that from 1959 up until 1976 Deirdre is institutionalized by Carlotta and is given daily shock treatment and is given a drug called Thorazine.
1960
Belle Mayfair dies of natural causes.
1964
A five year old Rowan is arguing with a classmate named Mary Jane and in a deep emotional anger Rowan telekinetically kills her classmate.
1974
Rowan is attacked by a rapist but Rowan telekinetically kills the attack out of fear and anger.
1976
Deirdre finally returns home to First Street but unfortunately Deirdre is now a catatonic and she sits around on her porch daily unaware of what is going on around her.
1977
Rowan enrolls into medical school to become a neurosurgeon. She becomes the best around as she has excellent innate diagnostic skills and can transmute matter to heal or for that matter kill!
Mona Mayfair is born to Alicia and Patrick Mayfair.
1978
In her second year of being at medical school she telekinetically kills her classmate at Berkeley.
1979
Millie Mayfair dies of natural causes.
1983
Rowan finds out that her mentor and friend Dr. Lemie is harvesting fetus at the Keplinger Institute. A year later (1984) Rowan telekinetically kills Dr. Lemie.
1987
Sister Bridget Maries dies. It is believed by both Mayfair and Mayfair and the Talamasca that Sister Bridget Marie was actually the grandmother to Michael Curry and that before becoming a sister she had intimate relations with Julian Mayfair, their is no hard proof that Julian ever really knew about this. Sister Bridget Marie as known by another name at this time gives the baby up for adoption and changed her name to Sister Bridget Marie. For more information please cross reference this with Lasher's notes written when he was human under the filename Taltos.
1988
Rowan discovers that her adoptive father Graham Mayfair is actually having an affair with a woman while his wife Ellie Mayfair lies dying of cancer. This enrages Rowan and Rowan kills Graham and his lover. Ellie Mayfair dies of cancer not to long after Rowan kills her husband.
1989
Rowan Mayfair has many hobbies and her most active hobby is taking time out to take her forty-foot cruiser "The Sweet Christine" out in the ocean. During one of her trips out in 1989 Rowan spots a man in the water floating face down she quickly rescues him and revives him. Before they have a chance to introduce themselves the man who is in fact Michael Curry is taken by helicopter to hospital to recover. During Michael's recovery he discovers that when he touches things he can tell people about it's past. This gift or curse however you want to see it makes Michael become a recluse until he has to find out who brought him back to life. He sets out to find out who was that mysterious woman who saved him by getting in contact with his own doctor. Michael's doctor then got in touch with Dr. Mayfair and she agreed to meet him. Probably due to curiosity and the fact she had fell in love with him the day she pulled him onto her boat. During Michael's search he saw an old man was watching him always, figuring that it was only a reporter he thought nothing of it when in fact it was Aaron Lighter. After meeting Rowan he did a few tests by laying his hands on the boat he was pulled up on and touching Rowan but he found out nothing that he did not know already. As Michael was looking for the reason he was still alive. But on the other hand Michael and Rowan fell madly in love with each other. But Michael needed to go to New Orleans to cast his eyes upon First Street the house where many times before hand he had seen Lasher. But Rowan could not follow as her promise to Ellie forced her not to.
Deirdre Mayfair dies at the age of forty-eight in 1989.
With the death of Deirdre, Carlotta tries to get in touch with Ellie but is greeted by Rowan as Carlotta discovers that Ellie had died a year ago. Carlotta informs Rowan of the death of her mother and that she is now heir to the entire Mayfair fortune. Rowan decides their and then to go to New Orleans and see her mother before she is buried.
Aaron makes contact with Michael and convinces Michael to come to the motherhouse in New Orleans to read the file on the Mayfair Witches. He reluctantly agrees and is given the file to read.
When Rowan arrives in New Orleans she inherits the legacy, the Mayfair emerald, First Street House, and Lasher. Carlotta tells her of all her past sins and that she tried on many occasions to kill her mother and grandmother. With this Rowan becomes enraged and telekinetically kills Carlotta at the age of 90.
After reading the entire file on the Mayfair witches Michael finds out that Rowan's mother has died and he and Aaron leave the motherhouse to be with Rowan.
Rowan sets in motion plans to build a hospital called Mayfair Medical.
Rowan become involved with Michael and allows Michael to renovate First Street. Near the completion of this renovation Michael marries Rowan Mayfair. Not too long after their marriage Rowan falls pregnant with Michael's child. Lasher's presents become more intensive until the dreadful night of Christmas Eve when Lasher attacks Rowan and fuses with Rowan's unborn child and therefore becoming flesh once again fulfilling the prophecy he had made when he was called by Suzzanne. After the quick birth Michael comes in and tries to kill Lasher but is unsuccessful and is pushed into the swimming pool where he has a heart attack and nearly drowns!
Rowan and Lasher flee to Europe...
1990
Michael returns to First Street to recover from his heart attack. A few months after his return Mona Mayfair seduces Michael into having intimate relations with her.
Lasher puts his plan in action after returning to Donnelaith to regenerate the population of the Taltos. To do this he takes Rowan prisoner and forces her into helping him have more Taltos he also sets out to find other Mayfair women to help in his quest he kills many more women about four or five and two of these being Glifford Mayfair and Alicia Mayfair. But discovering Rowan strange traits in their genes. Therefore discovering that some Mayfair women have extra genes that others do not.
The spirit of Julian comes to Michael and he tells Michael of his entire life and the poem that Evelyn had recited to him. He also tells Michael that he must kill Lasher to preserve the Mayfair family and humanity from complete destruction!
Rowan escapes and runs away all the aware that she is carrying another Taltos in her. She gets pretty far when she gives birth to Emaleth. Rowan falls into a coma. The Mayfair and Mayfair finally track Rowan down and bring her to First Street. Discovering that Rowan will likely die and cannot produce anymore heirs the legacy is passed onto Mona Mayfair.
In a false effort to put Aaron and Yuri out of the picture two men pretend to be the Elders of the Talamasca and tell them they are both excommunicated from the Talamasca for not obeying orders to leave New Orleans. Aaron defies the Talamasca and marries Beatrice Mayfair.
In a bid to gain control over the Taltos Lasher, Marklin George, Tommy Monohan, and Stuart Gordon send people to intercept Lasher when it is discovered that he has returned to First Street.
Lasher tells his story of his previous Taltos life and after he is finished Michael strikes him down and kills him. Rowan awakens with milk from her daughter Emaleth and after she finishes she shoots her dead. Rowan buries Emaleth in the exact same place as Lasher.
Marklin having enough with Aaron assigns someone to kill Aaron. Unfortunately they are successful and Aaron is murdered. This awakens Rowan from a state that was not to unfamiliar with Deirdre to seek revenge on the people who did this to Rowan's and Michael dear friend. At the same time Mona finds out she is carrying Michael's child.
Marklin tries to get someone to kill Yuri but luckily their fail as a strange person called Samuel shows up and saves him. He then takes him to London when he gets in contact with another Taltos being called Ashlar, supposedly this Ashlar is the famous St. Ashlar. He is told about the apparent corruption in the Talamasca and fulfilling a promise made many generations ago seeks answers and the corrupters.
Ashlar joins forces with Michael and Rowan and takes revenge on the people responsible for Aaron's death and the corruption in the Talamasca by killing the Superior General of the Talamasca and killing Stuart Gordon after the discovery of Tessa who is also a Taltos but who can no longer have other Taltos. Marklin and Tommy are taken care of by the Talamasca and both sentenced to death.
Ashlar tells Rowan and Michael about his long life and a few days later they referring to Michael and Rowan leave for New Orleans. Mona gives birth to a Taltos who she names Morrigan. Michael and Rowan return and discover that Mona child has been born and it is a fully grown woman! Mona fearing that they may kill Morrigan begs to them both and they don't. Eventually Ashlar shows up and realizes that there is a female Taltos that can bore other Taltos.
Both Ashlar and Morrigan leave with the blessing of Rowan and Michael to Donnelaith to repopulate the Taltos race.
