Marie Claudette Mayfair
-The Sixth Witch-
Marie Claudette Mayfair was one of a few that actually made a difference to the entire legacy that was bestowed to her after the death of Angelique Mayfair. In 1760 she married Henri Marie Landry. She was warned by her slaves that an insurrection (Haitian revolution) was about to start just days after she was told and that her family could be massacred if they did not leave Saint-Domingue. She paid heed to the situation and her husband, children, her brother and his family, and fifty loyal slaves left for Louisiana, Marie Claudette was the first Mayfair to leave Saint-Domingue since the family settled down there.
During her stay in Louisiana she refined the legacy and transferred money from her Holland and Rome banks to the banks of London and New York.
During her life she give birth to three children; Claire Maire Mayfair who was the first born and therefore heir to the fortune until was transferred to Marguerite Mayfair. Then she gives birth to Pierre Mayfair and finally Marguerite Mayfair.
The difference from Saint-Domingue to Louisiana was a big one no longer where they isolated like they where in Saint-Domingue they where quite open and people started to talk about Marie Claudette's powers and that she was a formidable and unpleasant woman. The slaves claimed that she was a witch and that she had a demon had her disposal and that if anyone crossed her she would send it after them.
After awhile Marie Claudette and family moved to New Orleans and bought land to build a new plantation. The new plantation was a lot bigger then the Maye Faire plantation and they called it 'La Victoire at Riverbend' which later people referred to it has simply 'Riverbend'. Unfortunately it was carried away by the river in 1896.
After the birth of Marguerite Mayfair was made heir to the legacy as Marie Claudette thought Claire Marie was feeble minded and that she could never marry because of her behavior. Marguerite Mayfair lived in the shadows of Marie Claudette until her death. She didn't let Pierre marry either but Pierre took a slave and had a son and a daughter to her.
