ANNE RICES NEW BOOK SERIES AND HER RETIREMENT
Anne is planning to leave the city of New Orleans and retire to an obscure address in the suburbs. The house on First and Chestnut, where she lived for thirteen years, the house in which The Witching Hour is set, the house which Lestat visits in Blood Canticle, is now up for sale. She is also selling her other New Orleans house, the one on St. Charles Avenue which she was able to use in the novel Violin, and where she also lived when she was fourteen. In fact, all of her Garden District property is on the market. And she'll be completing her move soon.
Of course this is a drastic step. she always thought she would live out her years in and with these properties, that the Garden District was part of her blood. But now that her husband, Stan is gone, and her son, Christopher, has permanently settled on the West Coast, she find herself overwhelmed with the care of what was once such a delight. Perhaps she learned all she can for now from the houses she loved so much and written so much about. And she want to leave while she hold so many happy and sad memories vividly in her consciousness, and while she still have a great deal of curiosity and energy with which to pursue something wholly new.
Simplifying her life, not owning so much, that's the chief goal, she thinks. And also to find a place where she can devote more and more time to writing and studying and some time to travel as well.
And perhaps she has to separate herself from patterns which have obsessed her and thrilled her with such intensity, for Heaven knows she loved the house at First and Chestnut; and the house on St.Charles is part of her being.
Whatever the case, the houses are up for sale, and around March 1st of 2004, she'll no longer be a citizen of New Orleans in the true sense. She'll be in her country retreat. Of course she intends to come into the city for the opening of Stan's new gallery on Carondolet Street. And she'll be there for the different openings that will be scheduled there as their rotate many of Stan's paintings. And she will be in contact with her family and her old friends. she'll be very close indeed.
But she has left behind a big chunk of the past. she hope that, if she ever miss her homes, she can find solace simply by opening her own books. Anne is not one for regrets after all. She lived to the hilt in her own way, and will continue to do so. Anne thinks she'll be happy in her new environment, working intensely on a new series to follow the book which she hopes will be published this coming fall. Nothing to do with the old characters, you understand, though the supernatural is still uppermost in my mind.
Anne miss seeing a lot of you guys. Her new address won't and can't be publicized. It's pretty inaccessible. But when it comes time for the annual Book Tour, She'll see you. And that makes her very happy, indeed.
RUE ROYALE LESTATS COVEN REACHE'S IT'S FIRST BIRTHDAY
Well who would have thought that a year ago this site would be still going? Well I didn't I have made countless sites in my time has a web designer and now none of them exsist except for this one, even though The Vampire Chronicles and The Mayfair Witches Chronicles have came to an end this site will continue and grow with each new book Anne releases. Although I am not promising that her next book series will get it's own personal section (this depends on if I like the book series enough to do a section) I will endeavour to try and make that section. This site has already had a face lift which if I recall was September 2003 and I am pretty pleased wtih it so I won't be giving it a major over haul until I feel it absolutely necessary. I still have to finish certain sections for this site off which will be done hopefully by June 2004 and as always I will bring you direct news from Anne Rice's herself and will continue to endeavour to make this site the best of my ability. All you regular viewers thank you for coming and returning to my site.
