PLOT

This time Lestat really is back with a vengeance, and in thrall to Rowan Mayfair.  In this latest mesmerizing volume of The Vampire Chronicles, two irresistible visions collide and merge as Lestat moves through the world of Blackwood Farm and the Mayfair Witches.  Here is the inimitable voice - mocking and seductive, cool but full of passion - that wooed millions of readers, as the Vampire Lestat takes up once more the thrilling story of his own struggle between the lust for blood and the quest for love, between gratification and redemption.

Here too are the brilliantly conceived characters that make up Rice's unique pantheon: Ophelia-like Mona Mayfair, taken over to the realm of the undead...her ghostly uncle, Julian Mayfair, who torments Lestat...Rowan Mayfair, witch and neurosurgeon, who attracts spirits to herself, cast spells on others and finds herself dangerously drawn to Lestat...Rowan's husband, Michael Curry, hero of the Mayfair Chronicles, seeking Lestats help...Ash Templeton, a 5,000 year old Taltos, who genes live on in the Mayfair's...Patsy, country and western singer, killed by Quinn Blackwood and dumped in the swamp...and at the book's heart, the Vampire Lestat himself, demon and angel, drawn to kill but tempted by goodness.  Now he fights to save Patsy's ghost from the dark realm of the Earthbound, to uncover the mysteries of the Taltos in their tropical island hideaway, and to decide the fate of Rowan Mayfair.

CRAIG'S REVIEW

Blood Canticle the latest and possible the final vampire chronicle in the series that has chronicled the immortal lives of Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt, Armand, Marius de Romanius, and not forgetting Tarquin Blackwood and many more sees the full return of Lestat in his story of love and passion and his eternal quest to become a saint.

When I first bought this book from the shop I instantly realized that this book was quite short (okay I was expecting a huge book like Blackwood Farm or The Witching Hour) and I thought "oh man this books going to be like Pandora, too short for it to be a decent." Luckily I was wrong this book is outstanding and has fulfilled all my hopes for a great book that I had been hoping for since the release of Blackwood Farm last year.  This book has all the quality that Rice fans have come to expect from her work and delivers on what I think all the fans will be quite happy over.

The book begins where Blackwood Farm left off and continues with the characters Mona and Quinn.  From the outset I was wondering how could a book this back deal with Mona's transformation into a vampire, Patsy's tormented spirit, the haunting Lestat has to endure, and the Taltos! I was amazed by the fact that Anne does it and does it with style she provides dialog that for me is simply the best since probably The Witching Hour.  This is a great book and although I probably don't have to tell you this is that it is a must read for vivid fans and for the newbie’s that want to sink their teeth into literature that will become classic.
