AMAZON'S REVIEW

I have been a fan of Anne Rice for years, first encountering her writing through the Vampire Chronicles. Unfortunately this book lacks all the things I admire and enjoy about her storytelling. Simply this book is a tacky porn movie in book form, lacking in depth and scope. That's fine if that is all you want but it could be so much more. BDSM is a world which is highly complex and psychological. There are so many aspects of it which can be explored, especially the mental aspects, which, unfortunately, are so lacking in this story. I mean there is a limit to the number of times you can describe an individual being spanked and still keep the reader interested!

Anne Rice has the ability to evoke amazingly strong emotions and feelings and what I find sad is that at times she neglects this ability she possesses. To be honest if you are looking for a sensual, erotic, passionate and moving story read "Interview with the Vampire" which is just bursting with beauty, magic and misery.
