PLOT

In love with the good, in thrall to the evil, from the hanging gardens of Babylon to modern New York, Azriel lives for all time.

AZRIEL, Servant of the Bones, powerful, dark and luminous, is a ghost, a demon, an angel.  In Anne Rice's mystical and magical novel he finds himself in present-day New York, a dazed witness to the murder of a young girl, and inexplicably obsessed by the desire to avenge her.

Azriel's astonishing story takes us back to his mortal youth in the magnificence of ancient Babylon.  There he is plucked from death by evil priests and sorceresses and transformed into a genie commanded to do their bidding.  But Azriel challenges these forces of destruction, and embarks on his journey through time.  As his quest approaches its climactic horror, Azriel at late dares to use his supernatural powers in the hope of forestalling a world-threatening conspiracy, and finally redeeming what was denied to him so long ago; his own eternal soul.

CRAIG'S REVIEW

Firstly let’s get one thing straight I have given this book three stars but a very good three stars just falls short of four stars though.  This book is superb although certain sections of this book do let the novel down.  Like Pandora I think this book could have been longer maybe an extra 95 pages might have covered it but let’s not reflect on things that cannot be changed.  Azriel is an amazing character and Anne Rice delivers his story to us not that differently from Louis de Pointe du Lac from the famous Vampire Chronicles in the style of him telling his story to a man that Azriel calls Jonathan, this is really great way of telling a story that keeps you gripped until the very end which is a very good one.

This book would benefit from a sequel although I doubt we'll get one, remember The Mummy, and this book most definitely needs to be made into a film as it has the ability of being an amazing movie just like Interview With The Vampire was all those years ago.  But we can only wait to see if this transpires.

This book is a must read for all Anne Rice fans and also for people who haven't read her books before.
