CRAIG'S RATING

PLOT

SHE IS THE THIRTEENTH AND THE STRONGEST OF THE WITCHES - THE DOORWAY THROUGH WHICH HE CAN FINALLY CONSUMMATE HIS INSATIABLE DESIRE.

Rowan Mayfair is a beautful, successful neurosurgeon with an extraordinary power to heal - or to harm.  While sailing off the California coast she rescues a drowning man, Michael Curry.  But Michael's brush with death leaves him with a terrifying psychic ability and disturbing images that drive him back to his, and Rowan's, native New Orleans.

As the two gradually unravel the secret of Michael's strange gift and Rowan's hidden past, their love story is interwoven with the history of the rich and powerful Mayfair family - a history of three centuries of incest, violence and dark sensuality.

And at the heart of the mystery is the seductive, evil and increasingly potent spirit with whom Michael and Rowan are inescapably linked.  His name is Lasher, and he is a lover of witches.

CRAIG'S REVIEW

Anne really out does herself this time with the sensual, historic, and spell-binding novel that is The Witching Hour.  The book starts off a little slow going from Rowan to Michael, and to other characters.  You feel that you don't know where your coming from.  But that's only at the beginning when it all comes together and you discover the entire Mayfair saga which starts all the way back in 1689 and ends in 1989.  This is a lot of information to digest but it is also very interesting to read and you'll find that you will not be able to put it down when reading part two of the book.

Lasher is cunning, and romatically involved with the Mayfair witches.

The reason why I am giving this book five out of five is the shire depth of this book and it ability to grap you and keep you attached to it until the end.  There is talk about a tv series (12 hour mini-series) that NBC are making with Anne Rice.  I hope this comes about and that the United Kingdom fans get the chance to see it on tv as we didn't get to see Feast of all Saints.
